About the Creative Mosaics Workshop
In the morning Doris will lead us in creating a Stepping Stone Mosaic to take home. She will cover safety and guide us in the techniques involved in making mosaics.
After lunch we will finish off our stepping stone mosaics and start to work on a board that will decorate the shelter in which the workshop is held. The plan is to create a border for a blackboard that will depict natural images that reflect the flora and fauna at Whistlewood.
Join us for this creative, relaxing and fun day of mosaic making.!
Please bring safety glasses if you have them, any crockery that you would like to incorporate into your design and dress for outdoor conditions. Please also bring a packed lunch.
Price: £30 (includes all materials) with limited concessionary places also available. Please see our Terms and Conditions to see if you would qualify.
Doris lives with her husband and teenage son in Sandiacre. After years of working in nursing Doris felt the pull of being outdoors in Nature and in 2016 took the courage to change career to become a gardener; something she is very passionate about. After courses at Broomfield Hall/Derby College she gained an RHS Certificate in Practical Gardening, a Horticulture Diploma and an HNC. Since July 2019 she has worked as a self-employed gardener. Doris then started to hear and learn about Permaculture and attended a Permaculture Design Course in 2020.
At College she worked on projects in a walled garden and that’s where her journey into mosaics began, by making stepping stones for some old rose beds. Since then she has carried on making mosaics and selling to her garden customers. She finds the process creative, relaxing and a fun thing to do. She hopes you will enjoy it too!
