Sat 2 June 2018 – Venue Whistlewood Common
Using the natural world to inspire Creative Writing
Date: 2 June 2018
Time: 10.30 am-2.30 pm
Venue: Whistlewood Common
Cost: £35 including a home-cooked lunch
Spending time outdoors is the most effortless and beautiful way to inspire your innate creativity. Our fragile earth is rich with inspiration. Many people feel more creative and free from restraints in nature. Even the most resistant of writers find that their creativity is enhanced, passion reignited, and insight awakened by spending time in the natural world.
During the workshop, using a variety of activities, we will use the natural environment at Whistlewood Common as a tool to inspire our writing, our motivation to write and engage with our senses to explore our surroundings.
This workshop is for anyone who likes or wants to write creatively.
The workshop is led by Tamera Howard, a local writer, who grew up in South Derbyshire. Tamera has an MA in Creative Writing and is working on a novel. She is currently part of Derbyshire County Council’s Writing Ambitions: Derbyshire Residencies Scheme. The scheme helps new and existing Derbyshire writers to develop their skills in delivering workshops and other community projects and has supported four Derbyshire writers to each deliver a writing residency project in Derbyshire. Tamera is delivering workshops to young people in a range of settings to encourage them to use their imaginations to write creatively.
A limited number of concessionary places are available for people on low-incomes. Please see our terms and conditions to see if you qualify.
