About the Qigong Tai Chi Course
Join Lisa to learn this elegant and beneficial system of ancient Chinese low impact exercises. Reduce stress and improve balance and co-ordination in the beautiful, calm surroundings of Whistlewood Common.
Qigong (or ch’i kung) is an internal Chinese meditative practice with over 3000 years of history, which often uses slow graceful movements and controlled breathing techniques. The Chinese believed that through gentle exercise which incorporates the mind, breathing and body helps to cultivate and promote circulation of qi within the human body, thus enhance a practitioner’s overall health. There are more than 10,000 styles of qigong and 200 million people practicing them all over China and the world.
The Health Qigong system was developed based on ancient Chinese traditional Yin Yang theory (harmony between man and nature, harmony between the mind and body), following the theories of the functions of the internal organs and meridians as well as the principles of circulation of Qi and blood in the human body.
About Lisa Dengate
Lisa has been studying tai chi and health qigong since 2008 and been a qualified instructor with the British Health Qigong Association and Deyin Institute since 2013. The gentle, low impact movements, coupled with the emphasis on deep breathing and calming the mind mean both qigong and tai chi have improved her balance, co-ordination, flexibility, stress level and general health enormously. Sharing her love of these ‘meditation in movement’ arts in various classes throughout South Derbyshire has reinforced her belief that they are beneficial to everyone no matter what level of fitness or age.
