About Maggie Cooper
Basketmaking has been Maggie’s life, having began studying the subject at Bournville College of Art.
Maggie is interested in the natural world, art, and social history, and has found methods in her basketmaking to explore these subjects, for example making wattle and daub beehives, traps, cages, baskets and sculptures both modern and ancient.
She often likes to work with materials which she collects, and for many years she has been interested in using willows which have been specifically grown in her area for the craft.
Over the years she has shared her knowledge and skills with many people through demonstrations, workshops and talks, keeping these special crafts alive today.
Maggie Cooper is a Yeoman Member of the Worshipful Company of Basketmakers and Freeman of the City of London
Staying in the Whistlewood Yurt or Camping
The beautiful Whistlewood Yurt is available on the night of the 8th September on a first come, first served basis and can sleep up to 6 adults comfortably. We also have options for camping and campervan pitches on the same night.
Come and enjoy the campfire spirit with like-minded people and you may experience one of Whistlewood’s fantastic sunsets or even a Rainbow!
