About an Introduction to Raku

Come and join in the creative fiery drama of Raku!  This ancient Pottery kiln art originated in 16th century Japan when it was closely  associated with the tea ceremony ritual.

You will design and glaze 3 pots – tea bowl, open chawan bowl and bottle form with guidance on how to use different glazing techniques. No previous experience required just the willingness to have a go, and experience the Raku magic as pots emerge from smouldering ashes with flashes of metallic rich colours and crackle glaze.

Very tasty Japanese stir fry lunch included!

Cost – £59 per day

Andy is also running a whole weekend Raku event at Whistlewood on the 1/2 October 2022. So if you can’t make the 30 April or 1 May there is still a chance to attend a Raku event at Whistlewood in 2022.
